I can’t believe we are just about 4 weeks away from the end of the school year. It has been an incredible journey. I know I haven’t posted in a while, but life has been a little busy up to this point, so I thought I would give a quick update.
For starters, I was asked to present at a district PD session. That was an incredible experience that I am very grateful for, especially considering that I am only a 2nd year teacher. We had an amazing turn out and the audience was engaged and took a lot away from the session. I also learned a lot while creating our presentation. We decided to use more of a flipped classroom approach to allow for our colleagues to engage directly with the material and not listen to use drone on about stuff. Seeing it in action and watching these teachers get excited about learning and sharing EL strategies with their groups was an excellent proving ground to show the power of a flipped classroom model. I am definitely going to try it before the end of the year.
My second project, grad school, starts officially in 2 weeks! I am proud to say that I will be going back to St. Cloud State University for my Master’s in TESL. This is a fairly large step for me considering that I am already working 2 jobs with several other projects running in the background.
Finally, I had also found out that I am moving schools within the district. This is a bittersweet thought for me. On the one hand, I love my school. I have built a lot of great relationships with staff and students alike. I will also miss seeing some of my students grow. On the other hand, I am STOKED to be going to the high school. It is an excellent opportunity for me to connect with kids on another level that you just can’t do in the primary grades. So my current status is a happy -meh-.
Hopefully, with things winding down, I will be able to post regularly again, and over the summer, revamp this awful looking site.
Happy Monday!
